I took this picture at a wedding I shot last year.  Every now and then, someone sees it for the first time and I invariably get the same response…

“Looks lovely.. what is it?”

In Switzerland, where this was taken it’s called a “bowle” and you make it as follows;


-1 kg berries

-2 tbsp. sugar

-2 bottles of white wine

-1 bottle of Prosecco


Wash the berries, put them in  a bowl and sprinkle the sugar over them. Add the white wine and store the bowl in a cool place for 2-3 hours. Before you serve, top up the bowle with Prosecco.

Preparation Time: 10 min

Time to rest: 2 hours
